Hi I’m Joe Mangelli President of DJ Doctor Sound and Associates. I began my DJ career as a light man at one of the areas hottest night spots, picking up pointers along the way from the DJ. One snowy night the DJ couldn’t make it in…. I was in the booth and just started spinning the tunes and rocked the night away. That was 1983 and my life as a DJ took off from there.
Djing in clubs motivated me to try new things. Then one day a friend asked me to be the DJ at his wedding… It was my first of many. I was a nervous wreck. It went off without a hitch. From there on, my focus became weddings and private parties.
I became DJ Doctor Sound In 1985 (it’s a long story… let me know when you have some time on your hands). And from that point on, my career really took off. I have performed at countless events from weddings to mitzvahs, to corporate events. All of them were unique in their own way.

In 1990 my brother “Lucky” Lou Mangelli joined me and the business went to the next level. He also was a club DJ and now was my sidekick and we started going everywhere the party was…from Toms River to Buffalo NY… and every town in between.
After a short hiatus Lucky Lou just recently rejoined Doctor Sound and Associates and we haven’t missed a beat.
In 2007, I decided to add a new exciting feature for my clients. Tim Komonchak joined my staff. Tim provides piano music for cocktail hour and ceremony and can also play along if someone wants to sing a special song (read Tim’s bio below).
In 2008, I had two new additions to DJ Doctor Sound and Associates:
Domingo, “Ming” Ampil (read Ming’s bio below) and Lou “Mad Dog” Masci (read Lou's bio below). Lou is great for corporate events and super sweet 16s.
I thank you for taking time to visit my site and I look forward to hearing from you.
